Baltimore, Md. – The Catholic Business Network of Baltimore has announced that Michael MacDonald, Chairman and CEO of Medifast, will be the inaugural recipient of the Catholic Business Leadership Award.  The award will be presented to Mr. MacDonald at the Catholic Business Network’s Annual Dinner on May 6 at Martin’s Valley Mansion in Cockeysville.

MacDonald, a graduate of Philadelphia's Monsignor Bonner High School and the Rutgers University joined Medifast's board of directors in 1998.  He succeeded his late brother, Bradley MacDonald, as Chairman and CEO in 2012.

"One of the real reasons for my success and career was Catholic education from grade school through high school," said MacDonald.  "Being an executive and leader and giving back are the most important ways of supporting Catholic education."

This is the first year of the award, which is sponsored by the Catholic Business Network of Baltimore (CBNB).  “We are blessed to have so many leaders and individuals in Baltimore who generously share their time and talents in the service of their faith.  It is an honor to recognize Michael MacDonald and the support network he has in place that allows him to be so dedicated to the Archdiocese," said Greg Pierce, CBNB's president.

In addition to serving on various boards, MacDonald currently serves on the board of the Catholic Community Foundation, and is chair of the upcoming Archdiocesan Gala for Catholic Education, which will celebrate the 225th anniversary of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
